Hint: It’s going to be awesome!
With our chances of visiting Disneyland Paris or Walt Disney World slowly slipping away, Disney has a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking for a bit of Disney magic this year.
This summer, UK residents will be able to set sail on mini staycations at sea with Disney Cruise Line onboard the Disney Magic.
These exclusive ‘Disney Magic at Sea’ sailings will depart on select dates in July through to the 1st October 2021 from London Tilbury, Newcastle, Liverpool and Southampton.
You can choose between either a 2, 3 or 4 night roundtrip cruise.
Passengers will remain onboard for the duration of the trip and be fully immersed in Disney storytelling and cruise life.
Picture world class entertainment, enchanting dining experiences, family and adult exclusive recreation and the opportunity to meet some of your favourite Disney characters.
Bookings can be made either by phone on 0800 171 2317 or online through Disney Cruise Line.
So, what can you expect from these unique ‘Disney Magic at Sea’ staycations?
While there is currently limited specific information about the exciting activities we can expect onboard, having cruised with DCL three times in the past 3 years, 12 day Transatlantic, 8 day Alaska and 4 night Merrytime Bahamian, here’s what you can look forward to.
Please note, as official onboard schedules haven’t been released yet, some of the activities below may not be available on these sailings due to COVID-19 related restrictions.
All of the photographs shown were taken onboard the Disney Magic pre COVID-19.
The Disney Magic
Distinctively designed and with families in mind, the Disney Magic combines the nostalgia of cruising with modern facilities.
One of DCL’s smaller ships, she has a capacity of 2700 people in 875 staterooms, 11 public decks and has a crew of nearly 1000.
World Class Hospitality
From the moment you step onboard the Disney Magic you can expect the same exceptional service, smiles and surprises you have come to know and love from the Disney parks.
This is what sets Disney Cruise Line apart from its competitors.
Outstanding hospitality which focuses primarily on the family market and providing each passenger with an unforgettable, incredible experience which exceeds all of your expectations.
Onboard Entertainment & Activities
Whatever length staycation you choose, you certainly won’t get bored on the Disney Magic.
As two of the cruises we’ve taken in the past have been longer than a week, we’ve been able to enjoy many sea days. I always look forward to these days as you can simply relax and enjoy everything the ship has to offer at your own pace.
You can spend your days splashing around in one of the pools, catch a Broadway calibre show at the theatre or movie at the cinema, sing your heart out at karaoke in the D Lounge, learn some animation skills at a workshop, bust some dance moves at a deck party or shoot some hoops at the Wide World of Sports.
And that’s not everything!
There’s also a spa, beverage tastings, an exclusive pool and nightclub for adults and a drop out waterslide called the AquaDunk for the thrill seekers in the family *not me, I caved*

In addition to a sit down breakfast at Cabanas, quick service locations at the Duck-in Diner and Pinocchio’s Pizza or room service, the main event in the evening is unlike any other dining experience you are likely to encounter in the UK this summer.
Whether you dine out on fine French cuisine at Lumiere’s, step into an enchanted fairytale adventure at Rapunzel’s Royal Table or witness the room come alive with your artistic efforts at Animator’s Palate, you will be guaranteed to not only delight in world class cuisine, but be carried away by Disney’s imaginative storytelling.
Looking to reward yourself with a sophisticated night out without the kids? Then make sure you make an advance reservation at the Italian inspired adult only restaurant Palo.
Snacks, fruit, soft and hot drinks are also available throughout the day.
Character Meet & Greets
There’s nothing we love more than meeting our favourite Disney characters in the relaxing setting of the ship.
According to the DCL website, there will be special onboard photo opportunities with Captain Mickey, Anna, Elsa & Olaf from Frozen, Marvel heroes, Toy Story friends and even a royal promenade with Disney Princesses.
A little piece of the Disney parks experience right here on our doorstep!
If you are planning to enjoy some of the adult only activities on this mini break, then I’m pleased to let you know that the kids clubs onboard the Disney Magic are exceptional.
My kids absolutely love hanging out at the Oceaneer Youth Club.
Run by friendly, welcoming, highly trained councelors, the kids are utterly spoilt for choice with non stop activities, games, surprises and Disney playgrounds inspired by their favourite characters and movies.
This summer, children ages 3 and above (fully potty trained) will be entitled to a 2.5 hour slot for each day of your cruise This can be booked 30 days in advance using the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.
There are three kids clubs available on the Disney Magic.
Oceaneer Youth Club: 3 to 12 years old, Edge: 11 to 14 years old & Vibe: 14 to 17 years old
There are four main categories to choose from and each room is designed with families in mind.
Depending on your budget, you can either book an Inside, Oceanview, Verandah or Concierge room.
We’ve stayed in both an Oceanview and Verandah room and have found each option to be comfortable, spacious enough and a nice place to relax in between activities.

Health & Safety
Given what’s going in the world at the moment, this is now a top concern when considering a cruise.
Health and Safety is a top priority for Disney Cruise Line and they will be implementing multiple layers of the toughest measures.
This will include health screenings, reduced capacity, masks, social distancing and elevated cleaning and sanitation levels.
For further details, including vaccination requirements, check out the extensive ‘Know before you Go’ guide here.
Sit back and relax because everything mentioned above is included in the cost of your cruise.
The only additional expenses are tips, alcohol, Wifi, treats such as popcorn, childcare for children under 3 years old and $40pp at the adult only restaurant Palo.
I hope this gives you a good idea about what to expect onboard ‘Disney Magic at Sea’ 2021.
Each Disney cruise we’ve taken as a family has not only been a truly unforgettable, magical experience but also a luxurious and relaxing holiday.
It’s not often us Brits get a chance to experience a new, truly unique type of holiday from Disney Cruise Line, so I can’t wait to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity for my family.
See ya real soon Mickey!
